2020-brr-1

There were temperatures in the 40’s and snow still on the ground in Perry Saturday morning, making the conditions perfect for a successful Bike Ride to Rippey, or BRR Ride.

Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti felt the 43rd edition of the annual event went very well and there were very few hiccups throughout the day. Over 1,300 people took part in at least part of the 22 mile trek from Perry to Rippey and back, and many more just came for the atmosphere and camaraderie. Pasutti said they had approximately 700 people register for BRR, and around 60 supporting the ride without actually going on it. The event is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Chamber with proceeds funding programs and business development throughout the year.

Pasutti said there wasn’t too much different for this year’s Ride compared to previous years, with the exception being a bit more information on rookie participants. “One fun thing that we did this year was on the registration (we would) ask if they were new riders. And we had more than 100 people say that it was their first time with BRR. And I think that’s really exciting that just as soon as we get comfortable and say, ‘Oh everyone’s been here before,’ it’s a good reminder that we are always attracting new folks coming to experience the ride.”

Pasutti says they were able to use that information to better communicate with participants about things such as parking, food options, and the route. Overall, she was happy with how the 2020 BRR Ride went, and thanked everyone who had a hand in making it a success. The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio was also once again on hand for the festivities, as we broadcasted live outside of Soumas Court, provided public address services, and played music.
