It’s the time of year that basketball programs from high school to the NBA take time to raise awareness and funds for the battle against cancer, and Perry is once again joining the observance.

The Perry boys and girls basketball teams will hold their annual Coaches vs. Cancer Night on Tuesday, February 4th, during the varsity doubleheader against Winterset. Fundraising opportunities that day will include: a staff jeans day throughout the District; t-shirts for sale before and during the game; a $6 meal at the concession stand; a raffle drawing for Iowa Wild and Wolves tickets; pink ribbons and Coaches vs. Cancer cards; and a 48-Second “Bucket Drill” between the two games. The evening will also include recognition of those who have been affected by cancer, many of whom have been invited by players.

All proceeds from the evening will go to the Perry School District Relay for Life team, to then be donated to the American Cancer Society. Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the ACS and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. For more information on the event or to purchase a t-shirt, click the link below.
