Due to winter weather, a district competition has been rescheduled to Jefferson for tomorrow.
The Northwest District Elks Hoop Shoot Contest will be at the Greene County Middle School gym at 10am. Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306 Exalted Ruler Steve Smith says the competition was supposed to take place in Storm Lake on January 18th, but was postponed due to weather. The local contest was also held at the middle school gym on December 7th and the six youths from ages 8-13 who earned first place advanced to the district contest.
The qualified individuals include: Shylo Reynoza and Kading Winters for the 8-9 year old girls and boys respectively, Alivya Smith and Jaron Jacobs for the 10-11 year old girls and boys respectively, and Emma Shipley and Isaac Carman for the 12-13 year old girls and boys respectively. The public is invited to attend.
The first place finishers from tomorrow’s contest will advance onto the state competition that will be held on February 22nd at Grinnell College.
