The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The meeting began with setting public hearings on February 18th at 10 a.m. and the 25th at 9:30 a.m. to award bids for the new courtroom and Ortonville Lagoon demolition projects, respectively. After that, the Board discussed a meal contract for the Dallas County Jail, but took no action so they can consider it further. They then approved the cancellation of prior year outstanding checks, as recommended by the Auditor and Treasurer’s offices.

At 9:30 a.m., there was a public hearing for the second reading of a proposed amendment to the local option sales and services tax ordinance, involving the City of Perry. No one objected, so the Board approved the second reading and waived the third. The Supervisors then discussed but took no action on the appraisals for several Secondary Roads Department buildings, and will bring a resolution forward next week to outline their plan for selling the facilities. Finally, they approved the appointment of Josh Smith to the Fox Creek Benefited Water District Board of Directors. The meeting concluded with a budget workshop.
