A boost in financial support was recently given to help finish a complete renovation of a Guthrie Center facility.

The 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County presented their fourth quarter check to the Guthrie Activity Center Board, donating a lump sum of $10,000 to help complete a remodel of the facility’s kitchen. The non-profit community center is operated by a volunteer board of directors, and hosts a variety of gatherings. Board Secretary Dennis Flanery shares the Board’s reaction to the donation, “We greatly appreciate Women’s 10 Squared, we received a donation from them when we began our project which helped us to put in some lights and some other things that were needed and really among some other generous donations kind of got us going and so now they kind of came in to kind of finish up the project.”

Flanery says the remodel will include replacing the kitchen appliances and flooring, repainting the current cabinetry, and making other cosmetic changes to match the rest of the renovated facility. He hopes for the remodel to be completed by graduation season, though the functional kitchen and center is available for rentals. The 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County has contributed over $130,000 to organizations and causes since its forming in January of 2017, and its next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 25th at the Lake Panorama Conference Center. Those interested in becoming a member are welcome to attend.
