The Guthrie Center City Council approved a vehicle purchase Monday.

The Council received a bid from Karl Chevrolet of Stuart for a Chevy Equinox for $21,850.28 to be used by City Hall employees. They also discussed but took no action on a request for funds from the Guthrie Activity Center Board to purchase new kitchen appliances. City Administrator Laura Wolfe advised the Council that funds should not be donated by the City except for purposes of economic development.

The rest of the meeting was spent reviewing the proposed 2021 fiscal year budget. Highlights included $150,000 allocated for street overlays and crack sealing, as well as the municipal bathhouse and Community Development Block Grant clear well projects, and funds allocated for televising sewer lines and manhole rehabilitation. A public hearing on the City’s proposed property tax for the next fiscal year will be on February 10th.
