A Jefferson man faces a felony charge for using counterfeit money.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, 26-year-old Dakota Neil Bishop is charged with a Class D Felony for forgery. The charge stems from an executed search warrant at 10:17pm Friday in the 500 block of North Vine Street. The warrant was in connection with a report of a victim who received $1,000 cash from the alleged suspect to pay back a loan she provided him in the past. The victim told officers the ten $100 bills appeared to be fake.

Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio Bishop allegedly altered play money to appear to be legitimate $100 bills. The police department has requested an arrest warrant. Once the warrant is issued and Bishop is arrested he will be booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
