A Jefferson man was arrested for allegedly passing bad checks.
According to the Jefferson Police Department, 32-year-old Juan Angel Guzman was charged with a Class D Felony for second-degree theft. Police Chief Mark Clouse says the charge stem from an investigation that started on November 25th when Hy-Vee in Jefferson reported several checks had been processed and returned for insufficient funds. Video surveillance was obtained from the business and showed Guzman using the checks to purchase prepaid cards. A total of $1,330 was spent. The checks were used from November 6th-14th.
