The Greene County Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is having their annual banquet next week.
The event will take place Saturday, February 1st at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds. The doors will open at 5:30pm and the meal from Lidderdale Country Store will be served at 7. A live auction will follow the meal. Greene County NWTF Treasurer Fred Long says there will also be a silent auction with over 30 items to bid on, and ten firearms will be raffled off. One firearm, a Winchester SXP Pump Shotgun, will specifically go to someone 17 and under with parental consent.
Long talks about how the proceeds from the event will be used.
“Those proceeds go to our state chapter to decide how to spend them. But we spend most of our money on public hunting land. We help the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) buy land that becomes public hunting land. We spend a large part of our budget on habitat improvement on the public lands that we already have. We also have programs to help youth get into hunting and old people that have dropped out get back into hunting.”
Tickets are $45 per person or $60 for a couple. Youth tickets are $10 each and other NWTF members are $15. Additionally, there is a $275 sponsorship available. Contact any Greene County NWTF member to purchase tickets.
