U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne paid a visit to Perry Thursday afternoon as part of her monthly trip to each county in the Third Congressional District.
She stopped into Dallas County Hospital to speak with CEO Angela Mortoza and to take a tour of the facility. Axne told Raccoon Valley Radio that visiting hospitals like DCH is something she makes a priority, as the information and insight gleaned is valuable to policy making in Washington, D.C. “Well it’s really important that we stop by our critical access hospitals and make sure that they’re receiving the reimbursements that they need, (and) the support that they deserve to ensure that they’re servicing their communities. And so being able to come out and talk with the folks that are here (to) get a better understanding what’s happening on the ground, the issues that they’re facing, will help me go back to Washington and continue to work on policy. I think we need to have quality, affordable healthcare in every part of our district, in every part of our state. So coming out and talking with the experts on it is one of the best things that I can do to figure out how we fix some of the issues.”
Axne’s monthly schedule brings her to a variety of events around the Third District, with private meetings like her visit to DCH mixed in with public gatherings like her “Connect with Your Congresswoman” town halls.
