8:41am: Carter Fetters spoke with an officer concerning snow removal.

1:30pm: The Jefferson Police Department has been assisted by Federal US Postal Inspectors in an investigation in Jefferson. As a result of the investigation, officers executed a Narcotics Search Warrant at 308 North Pinet Street. Information was gathered in the investigation showing packages of narcotics were being sent from out of state to the address through the US Postal Service. Officers stood by as a package was delivered to the residence and then moved in with the search warrant a short time later. The package was recovered with suspected marijuana wax inside. The packaging from a previously delivered package was also taken into Evidence. Charges are pending lab results on the seized substances.

3:40pm: Caden Etherton reported a vehicle sitting at the intersection of Washington and Olive Streets. He advised no one was around the vehicle. The officer made contact with the registered owner and learned the vehicle had broken down and a tow service was on the way to remove it from the intersection.

10:17pm: While conducting Business Door Checks, an officer located a Open Door at 1004 East Lincoln Way Street. The door was secured by the officer.

******** An officer requested an Arrest Warrant for Robert Richard Kovar, 35 of Jefferson for, “Theft 5th Degree – Simple.” The charge stems from an investigation the began on 01/03/2020, when city water department workers found that the water service to 702 West Mahlon Street had been turned back on at the curb stop. The service had been shut off for non-payment for the service.

******** An officer finished an investigation that began on 11/25/2019, where HyVee had reported several checks had been written to the business and were returned for, “Insufficient Funds.” The checks totaled $1330.00. The officer requested an Arrest Warrant for Juan Angel Guzman, 32 of Jefferson for, “Theft 2nd Degree – D Felony.”
