Woodward-Granger handily swept a non-conference basketball doubleheader Monday night in Jefferson over Greene County. The Hawks won 49-23 in the girls’ game and 53-26 in the boys.
W-G is now 11-2 on the girls side. They had 10 points from Emma Anderson and eight from Natalie Helbling as nine W-G scored and 15 played. The Rams were led in scoring by senior Izzy Bravard with seven points as they fell to 0-10 on the season. The Rams made eight of 38 shots from the field and turned the ball over 29 times. The Hawks had 15 turnovers and went 21 of 53 from the field.
The W-G boys are 11-1 and have won 10 games in a row. They controlled the game throughout, holding Greene County to a season low point total by a wide margin. The score was 13-3 after one quarter, 27-9 at halftime and 42-17 at the end of the third quarter. W-G made 21 of 53 shots from the field with 18 turnovers playing 15 players. The Rams went 10 of 43 from the floor with 22 turnovers. Freshman Richard Dougherty led the Rams, now 2-8, with six points on a pair of three-point goals, his first varsity points. W-G was led by Bryce Auchenbach with 15 and Keith Braunschweig with 10.
