After being snowed out of a home girl/boy basketball doubleheader last Friday with Gilbert, the Greene County Rams are scheduled to be at home tonight with non-conference opponent Woodward-Granger. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow. Coverage on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com begins at 5:45 p.m. from the middle school gym in Jefferson.
The Hawks are having their best seasons in years with the girls at 10-2 and the boys at 10-1 and riding a nine-game winning streak. The Greene County girls are 0-9 and haven’t been closer than 32 points in any game so far this season. On the boys’ side, the Rams broke a six-game losing streak their last time out with a 73-72 victory over Panorama in Jefferson to improve to 2-7 on the campaign. The only loss for the W-G boys was to Panorama by two points. The Hawks later beat the Panthers by five to even their season series.
Greene County has played just two games this month, but the boys have shot the ball much better than before the break. They’s been 24 of 55 from three-point range, and nearly 50% from the field overall. Prior to the break for the holidays, the Rams were at 33% overall and just 23% from three-point range.
