The public can still purchase tickets to the Yale Community Club’s annual scholarship dinner and auction fundraiser.
Doors open for the event at 5 p.m. tomorrow at the Yale Community Building, with supper catered by the Lidderdale Country Store at 6 p.m. with a live and silent auction to follow. The proceeds of the supper will go towards the club’s scholarships to Yale residents that have successfully completed one semester of post-secondary education, and this year they’re partnering with Guthrie County 4-H to host the auctions. Those proceeds will go towards their efforts to raise $50,000 to match the Guthrie County Fair Board’s $100,000 donation for a new static exhibit building.
Club member Scott Fredrickson says this event is more than a fundraiser to area residents, “Well, over the years we’ve just had an awful lot of people just tell us how much they enjoy getting together and having conversations and fellowship with all the people that show up in January. You know it’s kind of a tough time of year and people are stuck in so they really like to get out and be able to have something to do and go visit with their neighbors and friends and see their acquaintances. So that’s really why we have kept it going, is because they just enjoy showing up.”
Tickets are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance at Farmers State Bank in Yale or the Guthrie County Extension office in Guthrie Center.
