For a lot of us the snow that came earlier this week was a reminder of how to travel in winter conditions. With several inches of snowfall predicted for tomorrow, it’s a good time to go over those winter driving reminders.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams advises motorists should slow down, and if you skid, always turn into it. If someone is starting to have trouble staying on the road, Williams describes what they should do to avoid potentially making matters worse.
“Try and look where you want to go (and) not where you’re going. Because usually your body will have a natural ability to help steer you out of that problem. If you’re looking at the ditch that’s probably where you’re going to go, so try to look where you want to go instead of where you are going.”
He adds to apply brakes slowly, if needed and don’t use cruise control when there’s snow or freezing rain on the roadways. The National Weather Service is expecting five to eight inches of snowfall from Friday into Saturday.
