Guthrie County area residents can plan ahead for Valentine’s Day and support a local project at the same time with the Guthrie County 4-H Foundation’s latest fundraiser.
Coming off their prime rib dinner and auction fundraiser held last weekend, the Foundation is keeping the momentum going for their static building project with a cupcake fundraiser. All proceeds will go towards a new static exhibit building at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds. The Foundation hopes to raise $50,000 by March 15th in order to receive a matching $100,000 donation from the Fair Board for the first phase of the project.
Foundation Chair Megan Irlbeck shares why they’re seeking the community’s support, “Well, the Foundation and I would think anybody that’s involved with 4-H would second this but the current static building is in need of substantial repairs and if we keep the kids’ best interests in mind, building a new, modern static building is the best route to go than to repair an old building.”
Guthrie County 4-H members are taking orders for Scratch Cupcakery from now until January 20th, with the cupcakes expected to arrive in time for Valentine’s Day. Contact your local 4-H member if you would like to purchase some, or call the Extension office at 641-747-2276.
