Iowa Department of Natural Resources staff will be teaching youth and adults how to be better prepared for the colder months at an event this Sunday.
A winter survival program will be held from 1-3 p.m. at Springbrook State Park north of Guthrie Center. Iowa DNR Training Specialist Anne Riordan says this free program is geared towards those ages 8-13, but parents and others interested in learning basic survival skills including planning, gear, fire and shelter building, and navigation are welcome. Attendees will meet at the campground gazebo, and are asked to dress for the weather conditions. In case of inclement driving conditions the program will be cancelled.
