Winter break marks the halfway point for the Paton-Churdan school year. With that in mind, Superintendent Kreg Lensch looks back at the first half highlights.

Lensch says there were lots of positives that happened in the first semester. The district has a new website, and Lensch explains why they had to update it.

“You want to meet new regulations on your website (and) who can access it. And you also have to make it mobile compatible. That’s where most people access things anymore.”

Other highlights were the Veterans Day program in November, community leaf raking project, students contributed to the playoff run for the Greene County football program, a high school program with a Vietnam veteran and having the kindergarten through eighth grade students enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together.

“Talk about things as simple as table manners and teaching kids some of those things that are just etiquette type things (and) maybe they get lost anymore in our lives. We brought them into the gym and had a great Thanksgiving meal and served it family style.”

Lensch is looking forward for the basketball seasons to continue in a positive direction, along with speech teams starting up in the second semester of the school year. Paton-Churdan students return to school on Monday, January 7th.
