Greene Co Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen goes over property in Scranton

The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, County Attorney Thomas Laehn presented the Board with a draft of a dangerous and vicious animal ordinance. The Board took no action following a discussion.

Also during open forum, County Engineer Wade Weiss gave an update. He said he is moving forward with purchasing a new maintainer to replace an older model. He informed the Board that he was going to purchase it during this fiscal year’s budget to save the county money for next year’s budget. Weiss added, since the purchase could be handled through his existing budget, the Board didn’t need to approve it.

The Board then heard 2021 fiscal year funding requests from Region XII Council of Governments for $18,000 plus a capital match from the county, and the Bell Tower Community Foundation for $8,000. The Board took no action following the requests.

The Board approved transferring $50,000 from the county’s general fund to the conservation reserve fund, $8,000 from the general fund to the bike trail fund and $5,000 from local option sales and services tax to the bike trail fund. Conservation Director Dan Towers said the $50,000 will be used for replacing a lautreen at Spring Lake Park, along with electrical upgrades at Squirrel Hollow Park. The other funds will be used for maintenance of the Raccoon River Valley Trail and the bridge project.

Additionally, the Board approved a road closure resolution on 200th Street in section 30 of Kendrick Township. Weiss noted the project was to replace part of a bridge that fell into disrepair. Construction would start as soon as possible with Murphy Heavy Contracting, and the project could last for up to three weeks.

Finally, the Board set January 13th at 9:15am as a public hearing to sell county property at 701 Grant in Scranton to the City of Scranton, and they approved a master service agreement with IP Pathways for information technology services, with a monthly fee of $1,668 for three years.
