Friday, December 27th
7:01am: John Peters advised subjects were attempting to remove a trailer from a construction site in the 200 Block of Briarwood Bend. He found it suspicious due to the time of day. The officers knew the jobsite was a home being constructed by the GC High School. Officers checked with teacher and were advised the trailer was being removed to be emptied by students. No action was required by the officer.
8:18am: A caller advised of Barking Dogs in the 200 Block of South Pinet Street. The officer located the animals and spoke to the owner about ways to end the issue.
8:48am: An officer met a female at the Animal Holding Facility, as she had brought two stray dogs from out in the county. The officer located a number on one of the animal’s tag and made contact with an owner. She arrived to take custody of her animals.
10:18am: Sanitation workers advised of subjects using the dumpster at City Hall for their personal trash items. The officer spoke to the subjects and advised them they could face a criminal charge for using the dumpster in the future.
1:45pm: A Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Roger Beherns of Templeton being cited for, “Operation Without Registration.”
5:08pm: Russell Gardner spoke to an officer about a Civil Issue occurring at 402 West Russell Street.
5:10pm: Megan Smith reported the smell of anhydrous near Mulberry and Central.
5:44pm: An officer assisted the Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle accident at 220th and Orchard Ave.
8:57pm: Karen Bowen requested a Welfare Check on her adult daughter at 806 West Washington Street. The officer made contact with the female, who advised she and her juvenile son had been involved in a verbal argument. The officer worked to diffuse the issue and separate the two for the evening.
11:06pm: An officer located three male juveniles at Russell Park. They were advised to leave the area, as the park was closed.
11:26pm: A caller advised of someone burning something in the 700 Block of South Elm Street with a foul odor. The officer made contact with a subject in the area who was burning plastic. The officer advised him only yard waste can be burned in town and to extinguish the fire.
Saturday, December 28th
1:17am: An officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a posted stop sign at North Maple and McKinley Streets. The officer turned around and caught up to the vehicle to perform a Traffic Stop at 230th and Linnwood. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Kenneth Eugene Rosenow, 60 of Farlin for, “OWI 1st Offense – Serious and Fail to Obey Stop Sign – Simple.”
4:48pm: A caller advised of an Open Door at 112 South Wilson Ave. The officer could not make contact with the business owner, but closed the open door.
8:20pm: While conducting Business Door Checks, an officer located a vehicle parked at 1500 North Mulberry Street with its lights activated. The officer was able to shut off the lights to preserve the battery for the business.
10:17pm: An officer performed a Traffic Stop with a vehicle at 220th and Elm Streets, with a headlight out. During the stop, the officer determined the subject did not have a Valid Driver’s License in Iowa and issued a citation to the subject. The officer later learned the subject had given her a false name and DOB. The officer has requested an Arrest Warrant for Alexander Ruben Basurto, 26 of Paton for, “False Information Given for Citation – Simple.”
10:30pm: Chantalle Long reported juveniles ringing her doorbell and running from the area of 507 Hillcrest. The officer has a description of a burgundy passenger car and is investigating.
Sunday, December 29th
12:21am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 300 Block of West Washington Street.
1:50pm: A Traffic Stop near 220th and Orchard Ave. resulted in Tracy Robbins of Ft. Dodge being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
2:04pm: An officer assisted with a Two Vehicle Property Damage Accident in the employee parking lot at 1000 West Lincoln Way Street. A 2012 Nissan Rogue, owned by Tammy Wasson of Jefferson, was parked in the employee lot at the GC Medical Center. A 2012 Mazda CX9, owned and being operated by Stacey Biggart of Jefferson, turned too closely on a turn in the lot and struck the back passenger corner of the Wasson vehicle. Each vehicle had a reported $1500.00 in damages. No citation was issued as the accident occurred outside of the roadway on private property.
7:21pm: A Traffic Stop in the 700 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Daniel Woodford of Ankeny being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
8:43pm: The GC Emergency Room requested an officer at ER, located at 1000 West Lincoln Way Street for a 4-year-old Jefferson child that had been brought in and was possibly assaulted by a parent. The child had injuries consistent with what the mother and other children present had advised had occurred. The officer continues to investigate the matter.
9:40pm: Caden Emmick spoke with an officer about new Federal Law prohibiting retailers from selling tobacco/vaping products to persons under 21 years of age. The officer advised that Iowa law has not changed. He can possess and use the items at 18, but Federal Law prohibits him from purchasing them.
