With Christmas officially over, it’s time to start thinking about clearing decorations out of your house, particularly live trees, wreaths, and garland.
With that in mind, the City of Perry is once again offering free evergreen disposal to current garbage customers. Perry residents can put the items out on their curb on Wednesdays, January 8th and 15th. City staff emphasizes that all decorations should be removed from the greenery before setting them out. Disposal bags are not required, and items should be at the curb by 7 a.m. the day of pickup. You do not have to notify the City ahead of time that you plan to take part.
Much like the yard waste pickup offered throughout the summer and fall, the City of Perry offers the Christmas tree collection as a free service to help residents safely dispose of the items, especially since a dried tree presents a fire hazard for homes. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481.
