A Jefferson man was sentenced for a second felony case this month in Guthrie County.

According to Guthrie County Attorney Brenna Bird, 24-year-old Rodney James Blackmon was sentenced for crimes he pled guilty to on November 2nd. Blackmon was convicted of possession of marijuana third or subsequent offense, two counts of possession of methamphetamine third or subsequent offense, and possession of methylphenidate third or subsequent offense, all class D felonies. He was also convicted of three counts of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. Judge Thomas P. Murphy gave Blackmon a suspended five year prison sentence, and placed him on three years probation. He must pay over $10,000 in fines, surcharges, court costs, attorney and jail fees.

These charges related to August 1st and October 4th incidents in which Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputies and Iowa State Patrol Troopers executed search warrants at a Bayard residence. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation also assisted.
