Area residents are encouraged to get active and enjoy what the outdoors has to offer at a free event this Saturday.

Springbrook State Park in Guthrie Center is hosting a “Celebration of Winter” from 9 a.m.-noon. Iowa Department of Natural Resources Training Specialist Anne Riordan says activities will depend upon weather conditions. If there is snow attendees may ski, snowshoe, or make a snow cave. If not, Riordan says they will find a fun alternative. Attendees are asked to dress for the weather and meet at the park house/office. For more information, call 641-295-6028.
