Those cheering on the Chargers and Panthers at Friday’s basketball games can help support a local non-profit organization as well.
Main Street Guthrie Center will be serving a pulled pork sandwich dinner during the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center versus Panorama basketball games. Proceeds will go towards the organization’s mission of enhancing economic vitality, promoting historic preservation, and supporting community partnerships in the downtown.
Main Street Guthrie Center Director Dana Buster says this time of year is busy with their Board of Directors preparing for next year’s events and projects, “We’re very excited, it’s going to be another big year for us and we’ve got a lot of good things coming up. We are working on a speaker project for downtown and we’ve been working on that for a little bit but we’re hoping to get some speakers installed here and have music on the street within the next year.”
Main Street Guthrie Center received an $11,542 grant from the Guthrie County Community Foundation for downtown speakers earlier this year. Cost is $7 for the meal, which includes a pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, baked beans, chips, bar, and a drink, and will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. at Guthrie Center High School.
