Both AC/GC basketball teams will look to end their week with a victory in their home opener.
Both teams fell earlier this week to Des Moines Christian. The boys are seeking their first victory of the very young season. Against Ogden last season, AC/GC fell in both matchups. The Chargers lost 81-53 on the road, then 81-50 later on in the season. Early on this year, they’ve been led by senior Quynton Younker, who’s 20.5 points per game leads the team and is third in the WCAC.
The girl’s team went 1-1 in their two matchups from last year. AC/GC earned a close 46-41 win on the road early in the season, then fell to Ogden 41-40 in Guthrie Center. The Chargers enter the matchup with a 1-2 record. Ogden is hoping to get back in the win column after dropping their last three games. For AC/GC, they’ve been lead offensively by Alaina Bunde who is averaging almost 12 points per game. Kennedy Young isn’t far behind with her 10 points per game. Young is also leading the team in rebounds with 18.
