After starting 4-0 on the season with wins over North Polk, Carlisle, Winterset, and Newton Adam Jones’ team looked like it was one of the premiere 4A Girls’ teams in the state. However, on Saturday, the Fillies made the short trip down to Urbandale to face Des Moines Christian in what turned out to be the first loss of the season for DC-G.
The DC-G offense struggled to get going all night, while DMC was consistent, the Lions took the win from the Fillies, 53-34. In the second quarter DC-G put up just 4 points, and only 6 in the fourth quarter.
Senior, Jordan Cunningham was the only player on the Fillies’ roster in double figures. Cunningham finished with 12 points, and fellow Senior, Emma Miner added 9.
DC-G is back in action in a Girl/Boy Doubleheader at home on Friday when Oskaloosa comes to town. Girls’ tip off is scheduled for 6:15pm, with the Boys’ taking the court at 7:45pm in Grimes.
