Greene County Singers performing at a previous Nativity Festival
Reminder: tomorrow is the 8th annual Nativity Festival fundraiser for Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity of Greene County.
The event takes place at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson and it starts with a public viewing of nativity scenes on display from 3-4pm. Then the community Christmas concert takes place from 4-5:15pm. The concert features new acts including Delaney, Mary and Keith Pedersen singing “Oh Come Little Children,” and Dr. Holly Van de Voort on saxophone. Also, Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School Band Director Kyra Babcock will perform with Victoria Chargo as a couple of new acts.
Other performances will be from Greene County High School senior Mitchell Stevens on french horn, playing with Band Director Wes Anderson. Then a woodwind quintet will perform from the high school, followed by Joyful Noise from First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson, the Praise Powered Trio from Rippey/Grand Junction, Central Christian Brass and Tori Riley, who will again read an original poem. Wrapping up the concert will be the Greene County Singers.
Following the concert will be a soup supper and pie auction starting at 5:15 in the fellowship hall. Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Jeff Lamoureux talks about the community support for the event.
“Yeah the community support, it’s been great. Again, our volunteers that work on the committee put together a good event. I think at this point, again the 8th annual, people look forward to it and kind of have it marked on their calendar.”
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go back to Greene County Habitat for Humanity for housing projects.
