South Hamilton (Jewell) will send its basketball teams to Jefferson tomorrow night to face Greene County in the middle school gym in Jefferson. The Hawks are 0-2 in girls’ hoops and 0-1 on the boys’ side. Greene County played back-to-back nights earlier this week to open the 2019-20 campaigns. The Rams are 0-2 on the girls’ side and the boys are 1-1.

After struggling offensively the last three quarters vs. the Bulldogs in a 54-20 loss that saw the Rams score just 11 points after the first quarter, there was improvement on offense Tuesday. Even though Perry won 81-38 in Jefferson, Izzy Bravard scored 13 points and the Rams had a much better offensive night.

Greene County’s boys struggled mightily at Ogden, falling 57-46 with 29 turnovers, 0-21 shooting from three-point range, and putting the Bulldogs at the foul line 51 times. In Tuesday’s 65-27 win at home vs. Perry, the Rams were 8-21 on three’s, cut the turnovers, and the fouls to more manageable levels. Carter Morton had 23 points, seven steals, four assists, and three rebounds.

The Friday night twin bill can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage starting at 5:45 p.m. The girls play at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
