The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors approved the law enforcement center addition referendum voter introduction letter Tuesday.
The Board reviewed the changes made to the letter since it was presented last week by The Samuels Group Marketing Manager Shelley Rowe. They also discussed the property tax implications for the $8.7 million bond if given a 15 or 20-year payment structure with Northland Public Finance Managing Director Chip Schultz. The Board saw the benefits of both models but came to an agreement that 20 years would likely be chosen. No official action was taken, as County Auditor Marci McClellan mentioned that the Board can assume this model in their communication of the referendum without “locking it in” before the special election on March 3rd.
The Board also tabled action on a fiscal year 2021 funding request from the Guthrie County Library Association. They requested a $12,000 increase from the $119,618 they currently receive. The Board gave no funding increase last year. Finally, the Board approved a fiscal year 2021 matching fund request of $8,458 to the Elderbridge Agency on Aging, which had a five-cent increase per senior served.
