The fourth and final meeting of 2019 for the 100+ People for Perry group was held Monday evening, and the organization they chose to support was Raccoon River Pet Rescue.

The new animal shelter is currently being built on the southwest side of Perry and is expected to be finished in January. The funds they will receive from 100+ People for Perry will help cover spay and neutering costs, as well as a few pieces of needed equipment. The nonprofit received the 16th donation in the history of the charitable organization. The donation meeting was held in the Cellar at La Poste and started with organizer Tom Lipovac going over the rules and Linda Kaufman giving an update on the most recent donation to EveryStep Hospice. Three projects were then randomly selected for consideration, with members of the group presenting the information in a ten-minute window. The attendees then voted on which to support, and each gave $100 to the chosen nonprofit organization.

To date, the group has pledged over $100,000 to the 16 different projects, including around $7,000 to Raccoon River Pet Rescue. The funds given to each project stay entirely in the Perry community. The goal of 100+ People for Perry is to make four large donations every year, in order to invest in the City’s future and enhance the quality of life for residents. The next donation meeting will be on Monday, February 24th, and the organization is always looking for new members. Anyone interested in joining can reach out to Mark Powell at 515-465-4641 or mpowel@fdplawfirm.com, Lipovac at Tom.Lipovac@perry.k12.ia.us, or Kaufman at kaufmanlinda1948@gmail.com. Any current members who weren’t able to attend Monday’s meeting can drop off their check at the Finneseth, Dalen, and Powell Law Firm.
