One of the oldest phrases in the game of basketball is that offense sells tickets and defense wins championships. For the West Central Valley Wildcats basketball team, defense will be something that they will be looking to improve on from last year’s team.

The Wildcats gave up an average of 81.9 PPG on the year, which was one of the highest totals in the year given up by a team in the West Central Activities Conference. The Wildcats often had a tough time of defending the bucket with only 18 blocks on the year, and also faced some teams that were excellent at shooting the rock.

The Wildcats will try to improve on the defensive end as they end their first week for practices today, so will see if they can make some changes come season time.
