Despite the statewide unemployment rate increasing slightly, counties in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area continue a downward trend.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Greene County saw a 0.3-percent dip in unemployment from September to October to 1.5-percent. Guthrie County’s unemployment rate for October was 1.9-percent, a 0.2-percent decrease from September. Dallas County saw a drop of 0.1-percent from September to October to 1.5-percent. The county with the lowest unemployment for October was Lyon County, in northwest Iowa, with 1.1-percent; and the highest was Wapello, in southeastern Iowa, with 4.2-percent.
Statewide unemployment for October was 2.6-percent and national unemployment was 3.6-percent.
