A teacher in the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District was recently recognized with a prestigious award.
Charity Miller, a high school history teacher, was honored by the Jean Marie Cardinell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as the 2019 Outstanding American History Teacher. The Chapter considered several candidates for the honor, but was impressed with Miller’s credentials and list of accomplishments related to her knowledge of American history, in addition to her commitment to students. To put a finer point on that, they said she was nominated for the award by a former student. In a press release, the Chapter said of Miller, “In addition to American History, she provides leadership for other teachers, creates activities to relate history to modern life and events, and fosters excellence and high standards from her students.”
The Chapter added, the District should be proud to have a teacher of Miller’s caliber. For their part, the District Administration congratulated her and echoed the thoughts shared. Miller was able to attend a recent meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution, at which time she received the award.
