Dallas County Habitat for Humanity has been busy in Perry the last couple years, and they’re hoping to stay busy in the City through at least 2021.

Omar Padilla, the Outlying Areas Coordinator for Dallas County Habitat, says they recently moved a family into a house in Perry, which is also their first home finished outside the Des Moines metro area. The second house is also in progress, and should be finished in the spring of 2020. Padilla says they won’t stop there, as there are plans for at least two more, but first they need to find future homeowners. “We are building a third house in 2020, and we’re looking for a family for that house. So we hope that anybody out there who’s interested in homeownership in Perry gives me a call, checks out our website (or) our Facebook page, and applies. But we’re also starting a fourth house in 2020, with the hope of finishing that in the spring of 2021. So we’re really looking for two families to apply and to go through the program, so that we can create two additional homeownership opportunities.”

The two current houses and the two future homes are all located a block north of Perry Elementary on 8th Street. Anyone interested in owning either of the next two houses is encouraged to reach out to Padilla by phone at 515-238-5785, or by email at opadilla@dallascountyhabitat.org.
