Temperatures took a dip in the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area last week with some record lows, but the forecast shows more normal weather conditions for the rest of the month.

Jefferson and Perry had record lows on November 12th, with degrees of three below and four, respectively. It was a quick downturn from a few days prior, when Jefferson had a record high of 58 degrees on November 10th. State Climatologist Justin Glisan says this had to do with a large dip in the jetstream that allowed polar air to infiltrate the midwest. However, Glisan is happy to inform listeners on the climate outlooks for the rest of November, “We’ve been about seven degrees below average, so what we’re seeing in the short-term outlooks moving out towards the end of the month is near-to-above average temperature behavior in the probabilistic models. So what that means is we’re seeing higher probabilities of being near where we should be in November to above average temperature-wise.”

According to the National Weather Service, this week shows highs in the 40s to 50s with some chances of snow and rain. Listen to Raccoon Valley Radio for weather updates.
