A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 80 near Stuart Tuesday night.
According to Iowa State Patrol, 53-year-old Richard Moncivaez of Nashville, Tennessee was driving a Dodge Durango eastbound near mile marker 92 at about 6:41 p.m. when his vehicle struck 26-year-old Kristina Schmidbauer of Council Bluffs who was on the side of the road with a broken down vehicle. Preliminary investigations show that Schmidbauer was likely in the traveled portion of the interstate. The incident is still under investigation. The Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Stuart Police Department, Stuart Fire and Rescue all assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
