A new company has formally taken over services from Genesis Development.

Imagine the Possibilities Staff Communications and Development Director Bill Gebhart says the services that Genesis Development had in Jefferson, with the Discovery program, Supportive Community Living and Community Employment, all remain the same. However, the main office building has been vacated and Gebhart says they are looking for a smaller space, but want clients to be more integrated into the community. He explains, instead of clients using the facility in Jefferson, they are encouraging them to meet in public places in the community.

Gebhart adds they are dedicated to their members and staff to continue to be involved in the communities they serve. Gebhart notes they have a contract with Zion Recovery, which is operating the mental health care facility in Dallas County, for clients who need those services. Additionally, Imagine the Possibilities has stopped processing recyclables in Jefferson and city officials have contracted Carroll Recycling Center to take over that responsibility.

Imagine the Possibilities took over operations on October 28th. Earlier this year, Genesis announced that due to budget shortfalls and the privatization of Medicaid as reasons why they could no longer sustain services.
