The Greene County FFA chapter recently took a contingency of students to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The National Convention was from October 30th-November 2nd. During the trip the Greene County students got to tour two area businesses. One was an exotic feline rescue and the other was a local creamery. Officer At-Large Lauryn Killion reflects on those two visits, starting with the exotic feline rescue.
“We saw a lot of tigers, and lions, and exotic cats that had been rescued, mainly from private owners that couldn’t take care of them anymore. And then the creamery that we went to is just a local business and you have to go there to buy their products because their herd is so small. And we got to try their ice cream and it was really good.”
This was also the first year that the local chapter opened the trip to non-FFA officers. One of those was Mallory Prescott and she explains why she wanted to go to the convention.
“I wanted to go on this trip because I thought it would just be a really fun experience, because it is my first year of FFA. I thought it would just be so much fun to get out there and explore different things that I wouldn’t learn here but I could learn from other people, and FFA, and convention.”
