The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.

The meeting began with a department report from Public Works Director Bob Secoy. He mentioned that he is awaiting bids for a generator maintenance agreement, and discussed whether to repair or replace the columns at Union Cemetery. The Council directed him to get cost estimates for different options. Next, the Council set November 25th as the date to appoint a Council member due to a vacancy, following the appointment of Mike Herbert as Mayor after Dennis Kunkle resigned last August.

They then held a public hearing on the Cameron Flats development agreement with the Utility Board for an amount not to exceed $75,000 for five chosen lots that the Board will sell for $18,000 each. After a house is built within two years of purchase, the Utility Board will give the buyer $15,000 and a three-year tax abatement. Following the public hearing, the Council approved a resolution for the agreement. Finally, Mayor Mike Herbert decided to wait until the next regular meeting to appoint a Mayor Pro-tem, and the Council discussed how to ensure all residences have their address numbers visibly posted on their property.
