Six AC/GC volleyball players were named to the 2019 All-WCAC Team.
As usual, the Chargers were led by sophomore Chloe Largent who was a unanimous first-team selection. Largent led Class 2A with 619 kills and 6.45 kills per set. Head Coach Trevor Irwin tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she was vital on and off the court, “Chloe does a really good job, whether it is on the court, off the court, or at practice. She is also working and pushing towards a goal that she has. It doesn’t take much for her to be motivated, especially when she has a goal in mind. This year she just crushed it. I mean she had a successful season through and through, whether it was leading the state in Class 2A in kills or on the court emotionally and physically and just all around She just really helped us perform at our highest level.”
Junior Audrey Stowe joined Largent on WCAC’s first-team. Senior Oliva Laabs and junior Kylie Young represented the Chargers as second-team selections. Saiige O’Brien and Alaina Bunde were given honorable mention honors.
AC/GC finished 9-1 in conference play, with their lone blemish coming to WCAC champion Des Moines Christian. Next season AC/GC will bring back a strong core as they hope to build on a 28-8 finish.
