New Opportunities of Greene County is making its big holiday push to help out area families.

Greene County Coordinator Teresa Lansman says they are accepting donations for the Greene County Toys and Holiday Food Basket programs. She notes new toy donations can be made to her office, at 1401 North Elm Street in Jefferson, or to Sherry Graven in the Greene County Engineer’s Office at the Greene County Courthouse. Donations are for newborns-14-years-old. Monetary donations are also accepted. Lansman says they served 175 families last year and any monetary donations made for the food baskets stays in the county.

“All the food items are bought here locally. We get ahold of the grocery stores and get a good deal with them. Since we are buying in such large quantity, they have been amazing to even deliver them out to us.”

Lansman adds, the baskets are distributed at the Greene County Fairgrounds on December 21st. Toy donations can be made to New Opportunities, while monetary donations for the food baskets goes to Greene County Adopt-A-Family at P.O. Box 364 in Jefferson.
