It was a sunny and breezy Monday, which allowed the Greene County High School to continue a 22-year tradition.
The annual leaf-raking community service project included 131 yards in Jefferson, Grand Junction and Scranton. High school students spent Monday afternoon giving back to the community by volunteering to rake leaves. The Interact Club was the host and President Ellie Madsen talks about the importance of this type of school-wide effort.
“It’s really important and really cool to see high school students get involved as a whole. As the whole high school, (we) go out and do something in our community, just out of our hearts and we want to do it, and we are helping everyone in a way.”
Students worked with their respective advisory groups and there were 425 students, along with volunteers who helped transport the leaves to the landfill, to make the project a success.
