The Guthrie Center City Council will have at least one new face, as five candidates are running for three vacancies, with only two of them being incumbents.
Those running are Fidel Hernandez, Bill Wagner, Caleb Wulf, and incumbents Ian Steensen and Garold Thomas. Former Council member Mike Herbert was recently appointed by the Council as Mayor, though he is also running unopposed for the Mayoral seat at the November 5th election. You can hear from four of the candidates during the Special Edition Meet The Candidates In Depth News Magazine which originally aired this past Tuesday, and will reair on Monday, November 4th at 1 p.m. on 107.9 FM, KKRF. You can also listen to it by clicking the play button on our “On Demand” page at raccoonvalleyradio.com. Wagner did not return a request for an interview. Also on the ballot for Guthrie Center residents is a public measure to enter into a loan agreement of $800,000 for a new public restroom and aquatic center bathhouse at Mitchell Park.
