Monday, October 28th

4:15am: Tony Sparks reported a deer had been struck on 220th Street, near Sparky’s, that was still alive and on the road. The officer could not locate the animal. A deputy located the deer near Grand Junction and dispatched the animal.

5:40am: Officers assisted Jefferson Fire with an electrical fire at 1805 North Elm Street. Minimal damage was reported.

7:43am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 400 Block of East State Street.

8:35am: Denise Johnston reported she had lost her Debit Card at 777 Wild Rose Lane. Before she could have the bank cancel the card, it had been used twice at a Jefferson business. The officer is investigating.

9:14am: Officers assisted the GC Ambulance with a combative, intoxicated female in the 100 Block of East Central Ave.

10:44am: Marilee Kerr reported a stray dog in the 600 Block of South Vine Street. The officer located the owner and returned the dog to him.

11:06am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 200 Block of East Harrison Street.

1:08pm: Junior Lopez spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Issue with a motor vehicle.

3:33pm: Freddie German reported the rear window had been broken out of his vehicle while parked behind 803 West Washington Street. The officer was unable to determine what had caused the window to break.

4:37pm: Justin Louk reported a subject pushing a cart in the roadway in the 1500 Block of North Mulberry Street. The officer located the subject and advised them to stay off of the road.

4:58pm: An officer spoke with a subject about a vehicle parked partially in the roadway at 1100 North Grimmell Road. The vehicle was moved.

7:59pm: Reed Larson reported a subject walking in the roadway in the 1100 Block of South Elm Street. He advised it was hard to see the subject as he walked. The officer checked the area, but did not locate the reported subject.

8:20pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 1000 Block of West Washington Street.

9:38pm: An officer assisted a motorist with a flat tire near Elm and Central.

10:36pm: Robert Heath requested an officer to check his residence in the 300 Block of North Chestnut Street for an Open Door. He was out of town and had been advised his door was open. The officer found the residence to be secure and advised Heath of his findings.

10:55pm: A Traffic Stop at Elm and Lincoln Way Streets resulted in Jessica Montoya of Jefferson being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”

Tuesday, October 29th

1:45AM: A deputy requested a Jefferson officer to respond to a One Vehicle Accident, as he was busy with a Domestic Call in the county. The officer located the accident on 220th Street, west of Jefferson at the Raccoon River Bridge. A 2005 Jeep Liberty, owned and operated by Christopher David Murphy of Jefferson, was eastbound on 220th Street. The driver encountered ice on the roadway at the bridge and lost control. After striking both sides of the bridge, the vehicle came to rest against the south guardrail. The vehicle was a total loss and the bridge suffered a reported $200.00 in damages. The GC Ambulance responded to the scene to check the driver and passenger for injuries. No transport was made by EMS. Murphy was cited for, “Fail to Maintain Control.”

3:15AM: Tanisha Rice requested an officer at 406 East Harrison Street to remove an unwanted male from the residence. The officer worked with the couple to a solution where the male and a juvenile left the residence for the remainder of the evening.

9:37AM: An officer responded to 303 North Elm Street after dispatch received a Hold Up Alarm Activation from the business. The officer learned an employee had accidentally tripped the alarm.

10:17AM: Peoples Bank spoke with an officer with concerns about a vehicle parked in the alley causing a Traffic Hazard to customers. The vehicle was legally parked, but after speaking with the officer, the owner opted to move the vehicle to another location.

10:19am: HyVee requested an officer to deliver a “Ban and Bar Notice” to an ex-employee who resides in Jefferson.

11:01am: City Hall advised of a stray dog at 220 North Chestnut Street. The officer placed the dog in the Animal Holding Facility.

11:46am: Ashlyn Munch requested a Welfare Check on a child at 705 West Harrison. The officer made contact with family members and deemed the child was fine. She was staying with a grandparent in Paton.

1:12pm: Robert Hauenstein spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Property Issue at 613 South Wilson Ave.

2:51pm: After failed attempts to speak to the registered owner, an officer towed a vehicle from the 700 Block of South Maple Street. The vehicle had been parked in the area for numerous days.

3:28pm: Angela Lee spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Issue occurring at 705 West Harrison Street with a local heating and cooling contractor.

3:57pm: A Traffic Stop in the 500 Block of South Wilson Ave. resulted in Dakota Bishop of Jefferson being cited for, “Dark Windows.”

3:59pm: An officer checked on a 911 Cell Phone Hang Up Call from the 1000 Block of West Lincoln Way Street. The officer determined it was an accidental dial and all was fine.

10:06pm: A Traffic Stop in the 400 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Sharletha Wiggins of Colfax being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

******** After an investigation started on 10/24/2019, an officer issued Stephanie Chapman of Yale a Citation for, “Unsafe Passing of a School Bus.” A school district bus driver reported the event to the officer after a vehicle had passed the stopped school bus while the lights and stop stick were activated in the 300 Block of South Vine Street.
