The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.

The meeting began with the Council appointing Council Member Mike Herbert as Mayor and his swearing in. Next, the Council approved an accessory building permit for Chad Davis, and agreed to keep the date of their first November meeting on November 11th. The Council also decided they would set the date to appoint a Council member to fill Herbert’s vacancy on November 11th. They then approved setting a public hearing date of November 11th for a developer agreement with the Utility Board for an amount not to exceed $75,000 in tax rebates for purchases of the five available lots in Cameron Flats.

Later, they approved a professional services agreement for no more than $4,200 with engineering firm Short Elliott Hendrickson to determine whether the City should install a round or box culvert west of town, which may eventually be reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Finally, the Council set November 25 as the date to open bids for the purchase of three parcels of land between 5th and 7th streets, which will be subject to a sewer main easement maintained by the City. They also approved the purchase of a jackhammer from Star Equipment, which the cost will be split with the Utility Board.
