The Community Players of Greene County invites everyone to a first-ever fundraiser happening at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad this weekend.
Community Players Board Vice President Tim Pound says a few of the Players will be dressing up as characters from the iconic Addams Family. There will be two nights of performances, Friday and Saturday at 6pm at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad. Larry Dowd will be Gomez, Gina Harrington will portray Morticia, John Schoening will be Lurch, Uncle Fester will be played by Tim Fester, Avery Bardole will be Pugsley, Wednesday will be played by Josey Weaver and Judy Mohler will be Grandma. Passengers will leave the depot and the characters will then board the train to interact with them.
Pound says he’s been working with the Boone Railroad for two years to coordinate this event. He explains why he wanted to do this kind of fundraiser.
“I’ve always enjoyed Halloween. It’s just kind of a fun time to dress up in costumes and just enjoy Halloween as a fun thing. So I thought we just need to do something different. For the Community Players, we are kind of thinking outside the box. We’re a little bit in uncharted waters, but it’s going to be a good time.”
Tickets are $20 per person for the 90-minute train ride. All proceeds will benefit the Community Players and future performances. To purchase tickets, call 1-800-626-0319 or visit the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad’s website at bsvrr.com.
