Classes are now available at the Des Moines Area Community College VanKirk Career Academy in Perry for those interested in obtaining United States citizenship, and there’s still an opportunity to join.
The course is taught by Adjunct Instructor Nicole McFarland, who also leads the adult English Language Learner class at the career academy. It meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at the DMACC campus in Perry. Participants are able to practice proper English vocabulary, learn more about U.S. history and civics, and go through mock interviews, all of which are crucial elements to obtaining permanent citizenship.
For more information on the citizenship class or the ELL classes at the Perry DMACC Center, give them a call at 515-428-8100 or email McFarland at npmcfarland@dmacc.edu.
