On Thursday night, the Little Hawkeye Conference Volleyball Tournament was held at Pella High School. The top seeded Fillies were able to show why they are ranked so high in the Class 4A standings across the state.
DC-G opened the tournament with a win over, host school, Pella, and worked their way through the bracket. DC-G faced Grinnell in the second round passed up the Tigers in a two-set sweep, followed by a two-set sweep over Norwalk. The championship match commenced with, top-seeded, Dallas Center-Grimes, and, second-seeded, Indianola.
The Fillies won the opening set versus Indianola, 25-16, but however dropped set 2 by the same exact score. The third and decisive belonged set to DC-G as they easily handled the Indians 15-5.
Cheryl Voelker’s team is now 30-6 on the season and will prepare to face the winner of Perry and Ballard in Regional action on October 29th in Grimes.
