A Bayard woman who was arrested last May for allegedly depositing false checks and blank envelopes has been given a deferred judgment.
According to court documents, 20-year-old Payton Allysa Hill entered a guilty plea to a class D forgery offense this week in Guthrie County and then an entry of judgment and pronouncement of sentence was deferred while Hill will be placed on a two year probation period. She must pay over $2,000 in restitution for legal assistance, jail fees, court costs, a civil penalty, and a law enforcement surcharge. She must also submit to substance abuse evaluation and shall cooperate with treatment if indicated. If all terms and conditions have been completely satisfied by the end of the probation, the Clerk of Court will expunge Hill’s criminal record.
Four counts of theft in the fourth degree, a serious misdemeanor, were dismissed, as well as all other misdemeanors. Charges were filed against Hill after she failed to commit to a repayment plan offered by Guthrie County State Bank, after security camera footage and documents showed Hill entered an incorrect amount into their ATM, deposited an altered check from her grandmother, and deposited several blank envelopes.
