History buffs and food enthusiasts alike are invited to a free program this Sunday, hosted by Dallas County Conservation.

Local historian Darcy Maulsby, who wrote a book about Dallas County’s history, will return to Forest Park Museum and Arboretum for an event focusing on the state’s culinary past. During the interactive program, Maulsby will serve up little known facts about famous Iowa dishes, and will give cooking tips related to food traditions from across the state. Topics of conversation will include: classic breaded pork tenderloins, church dinners, the historic Younkers Tea Room, and more. Maulsby will also sign copies of her books, “A Culinary History of Iowa” and “Dallas County,” which will be available for purchase at the event.

The “Adventures in Iowa’s Culinary History” program will be held Sunday, starting at 1:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend, and registration is not required. To learn more, stop in or call Forest Park Museum at 515-465-3577.
